June-July 2013 - Capacity Bristol / "This Made City" Exhibition
A collection of images produced for the Capacity Bristol project.
Taken during June 2013.
The Capacity project is a Bristol-based regeneration project aiming to open up empty and underused buildings for creative uses for the benefit of Bristol’s creative community, residents and visitors to the city. The project endeavours to ensure that wherever possible any empty council owned buildings are made available for temporary usage by artists and also help broker usage of privately owned buildings. This project also has an advocacy role, aiming to legitimatise the temporary usage of space by artists and make Bristol a progressive city in which these activities can take place. Over the past 3 years the project supported a wide array of creative projects including the Island (Artspace Lifespace), pop up shops and galleries, Igfest city wide games, creation of studio, office, rehearsal and storage space and many exhibitions, installations and performances. Unfortunately due to public sector cuts, Capacity Bristol is no longer running.
Dan cycled around the city photographing a selection of the diverse range of buildings which were used during the Capacity Bristol project. These images were then compiled into an exhibition called "This Made City" on display in the Parlour Showrooms at the end of July 2013. See the Capacity Bristol website here, and the parlour showrooms website here for more details.

10th Mar 2013 - Poetry Pulpit
Event filming for Sally Jenkinson and Liz Greenfield.
Taken on Sunday 10th March 2013.
This was, sadly, the last ever poetry pulpit event. Manchester's very own Paddy Steer gave an enthralling performance supported by Alabaster dePlume, and sandwiched by a number of local and national poets. All delivered their work to an enthusiastic audience. Liz and Sally presented the event in classic dynamic duo style!
Official info:
Since its unplanned formation in 2010, Poetry Pulpit rapidly unfolded into one of the most energetic and innovative poetry events in Bristol, a hub for local talent and a great occasion to perform new writing, enjoy words and exchange ideas. Website.
Dan recorded video footage of the event, which has been passed on to the Poetry Pulpit team.

30th Jan 2013 - Wednesday Windows
A collection of images produced for The Showrooms Project.
Taken on Wednesday 30th January 2013.
Each week in January 2013 the Bristol Parlour Showrooms hosted a street theatre event called 'Wednesday Windows'. The official website states that this was "a series of live performance and artists’ film in the window of The Parlour Showrooms". Viewers were treated to a free performance in the evening, some of whom arrived for the occasion, others were just passing by on their way home from work.
Using a combination of tilt-shift lens technology and post-production techniques, Dan has produced a unique set of images which captures the unusual nature of this particular performance, and the response of passers-by.

20th December 2012 - Folly and Alabaster dePlume COPERNICUS Ensemble
Event filming and photography for Sally Jenkinson and Nuala Honan.
Recorded on Thursday 20th December 2012.
Official info:
Alabaster dePlume COPERNICUS Ensemble
In the process of creating Copernicus, his debut LP, Manchester based Alabaster dePlume has brought together a group of accompanists, who communicate effortlessly onstage. They address an audience, a mood and one another around and within his theatrical performance poetry, heart-stirring song and beautiful instrumental movements. Website.
Folly fol·ly /fälē/
1. A lack of good sense, understanding, or foresight
2. A building constructed primarily for decorations
3. A piece of spoken word written by Sally Jenkinson, with a full guitar score by Nuala Honan.
Sometimes we think it’s a confession about leaving, sometimes we think it’s miserable poetry musical. Sometimes when we rehearse, Nuala wears a giant brown jilaaba, and Sally shouts and pretends Gus Fairbairn is sitting on a trunk in the corner of the room. Imagine what happens when a grumpy Yorkshire poet lady and a grumpy Australian musician lady get together and write about trains, planes and cheap booze. It’s that.
Dan recorded the performances along with Paul Blakemore and Tilly May.

7th, 14th & 21st December 2012 - Death, Treason, Rhyme & Reason
Event filming and photography for The Nursery Rhyme Project and Twisted Theatre.
Recorded over the course of three events on the 7th, 14th and 21st December 2012.
Official info:
Using live strings, classical percussion and dramatic vocals and storytelling songs, Death & Treason, Rhyme & Reason explores the dark and debauched secrets of our most familiar childhood rhymes.
Elizabeth Westcott, Nuala Honan, Jessica Macdonald, Hannah Martin and Robbie Burgess are the artists behind this part-cabaret, part-gig, which looks at where nursery rhymes came from. The origin of these rhymes does not always lie in the entertainment of the young, yet they appease our children, who sleep in blissful ignorance of the torture and politics, witches and murdered religious leaders that lie beneath their bedtime tales.
Dan recorded the performances, and the footage is being used to create a short promotional video. A short promo video edit has been made from Dan's footage - click here to watch it - which was complied by Joseph Wallace.
